Let’s learn amazing habits of elephant families !!
These herd of elephant seems to be enjoying a pleasant afternoon. They seem to be coming out of the water after a long soak.
Do you see the way their trunks swing back and forth? They’re grazing. They pluck the grass with their trunks and then swing it into their mouths like a spoon.
You can see that the herd stays close to one another and the cattle egrets are flocking close by. They’re back in the water now.
The elephants drink and splash around in the same manner; swinging their trunks and splashing the water over their bodies like a shower.Elephants love to pour water on their bodies, especially when the sun is high and really hot. Can you see a little calf splashing around by his mother?
The herd seems to be moving out again. Kids, it’s fun to know that every herd has a leader, and it’s probably the leader that has told them that pool time is over.Alright, it’s back to more grazing. Yum Yum.There! You can see the calf now. Looks little, and it’s almost hard to believe that he will be a giant some day.

This one walking by is still young, but has grown up a bit.Now you know a herd is just like every family– made up of the males, females and young ones.
Let’s follow the young elephant and see what he is up to. He seems to just be grazing and playing with his food.
Back to the herd now. All the elephants are grazing and having a nice day out on the field. The grass must be sweet this time of the day.
Look, There’s a mama elephant and her calf. The calf is small it can actually walk underneath his mama.The little calf is resting in the shade under his mama while she feeds on the grass. And now they walk back to rejoin the other elephants.

Here are some more elephants scattered around in the field. There are some over there in the water, while these ones are slowly moving along and having fun with the grass.
Mama elephant is busy with her grass. I think it’s funny the way she crosses her legs just now. I think the flies are disturbing her, lucky the cattle egrets are around to take care of that.It really is a nice day out on the field and everyone seems to be having fun.
The elephants have finished grazing for now and have gone back into the water to cool off. They will splash around and quench their thirst before calling it a day.
